Het Veem: from working to living | Once a grain warehouse, later used as offices, and now completely transformed into modern apartments: Het Veem in Hengelo. After seven years of vacancy, the former UWV office has been transformed into a vibrant residential area with 93 sustainable two-bedroom apartments. Approximately 600m² of commercial space has also been developed. The redevelopment was completed at the end of 2024, and all apartments were rented out immediately upon completion. A wonderful article about this appeared in the trade journal Stedenbouw, which extensively highlighted the sustainable approach and the successful transformation. A beautiful redevelopment carried out by FiMek estate on behalf of Hinke Fongers Beheer BV, in collaboration with Bloot Architecture BNA and contractor Van Wijnen Eibergen B.V.
